Fear of flying is one of the most common phobias and can affect anyone whatever age or gender and around 1 in 10 people may experience a fear of flying at some point during their lives. As flying is essentially an unnatural thing to do, our our subconscious mind may create anxiety as it is trying to protect us in a situation which can be seen as fearful. This is probably why around 20-40% of the population experience this anxiety whilst flying.
Other symptoms may include:
- Dry mouth
- Blurred vision
- Racing heartbeat
- Running to the loo
- Panic attack
Having a fear of flying can impact your life and interfere with holidays and business travel.
This fear may also be caused by many things, such as a bad experience or seeing other people scared. You may suffer from fear of heights or panic attacks or may just have and may also have misunderstandings of the principles of the plane and flight itself which can cause a fear.
Many people have a fear of being out of control that they may lose control of their emotions during a flight and perhaps embarrass themselves on the plane.
Others may have a fear of turbulence or bad weather and
